February 23 is just around the corner, and again the eternal question arises of what to give a man. Of course, you can go down the beaten path and stock up on socks and shaving gels, but why not make a pleasant surprise instead that will give you many fun moments? The perfect gift for February 23 is a game console!
Xbox or PS4

We all know these two well-known and constantly competing brands: Xbox from Microsoft and Sony PlayStation. They go hand in hand, constantly improving their own indicators such as graphics, game support, library, power and volume.
So far, the latest models are Xbox One and PlayStation 4, however, each of them has a slightly updated version: Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. We’ll talk about them.
Both new games support games that were released for the base PS4 and Xbox One, both support 4K, and both have updated design and parameters.
Sony launched in November 2016 and a year later, Microsoft did the same. At the same time, the price does not differ too much, but still the Xbox One X is somewhat more expensive than its competitor.
In fairness, it should be noted that the processor of the console from Microsoft is faster, due to a later release, of course. But if we really want to get into the details, let’s look at the graphical performance.
Graphic arts

Xbox Scorpio: 6 TFLOPS, 326Gb/s, 12Gb GDDR5
PS4 Pro: 4.12 TFLOPS, 218 Gb/s, 8 GB GDDR5
Let’s start, of course, with TFLOP (the number of trillions of floating point operations per second) – here it is definitely ahead of the Xbox in terms of indicators, as well as in the number of GB / s – this value reflects the frame rate from the image processor to the screen. In simple terms, the more memory, the higher the resolution of the textures that the GPU can transfer per second. As a result, we get better performance and better graphics from Xbox.
The PS4 Pro has 8GB of VRAM, plus another 1GB allocated from RAM. As for the Xbox One X, here we get 12GB of memory. But it should be borne in mind that both consoles distribute memory between the GPU and CPU, but in terms of performance, the console from Microsoft is also ahead.
Of course, we are interested in how this will affect the gameplay, and the difference manifests itself precisely when you want to run games in 4K resolution. Microsoft is trying to let us play 4K games at 60fps, but the PS4 Pro can’t always go above 30fps. Everything here varies from case to case.
Again, the Xbox One X has made sure that it’s easy to play games designed for Xbox One in Full HD resolution. For games under the new model, you can choose Full HD or Ultra HD. All this is done simply and without problems.
It is more difficult to do the same on PS4 – the graphics settings are hidden, so in order to run some games in Full HD, you will need to tell the console to run all games in this particular resolution.
In a word, with regard to graphics and performance, perhaps it is the Xbox that wins here. But that’s not all.
Appearance and filling

Compared to their predecessors, both models are smaller and look more modern. Both will look great next to your TV and both will fit in a backpack if you decide to take them on holiday with you, for example. The PS4 Pro is slightly larger than its predecessor, but the Xbox, on the contrary, is more powerful, but more compact.
The blue-and-white Xbox may not fit in as easily as the Sony, but stability plays in its favor.
PS4 Pro, just like the mini version of Slim, includes a DualShock 4 controller, now the touchpad is framed with LED tape, and the grip has become more convenient.
The Xbox One isn’t far behind either, you can create your own custom controller through the Xbox Design Lab, but it will require constant battery replacement unless you purchase a charger.
The presence of the Play Station VR helmet also speaks in favor of Sony, which will provide the ability to play VR games.
In terms of design, convenience and stuffing, perhaps the PS4 wins.
game library

Ever since the emergence of two rival consoles, the biggest difference has been the set of games that are available for each. And today, companies are still competing to get the exclusive right to play a number of popular games.
Almost all the most famous games, of course, come out for both Xbox and PS4. These are games such as Call of Duty: WWII, Destiny 2, Grand Theft Auto V, Injustice 2, Star Wars Battlefront 2 and many others. In general, when it comes to third party manufacturers like EA, Rockstar, etc., they tend to expand their audience by making games as accessible as possible.
But when it comes to exclusive games, the PS4 takes the lead. Uncharted 4, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Persona 5 are all PlayStation-only games.
If you prefer sports games, then most of them are cross-platform, so when choosing, you will have to pay attention to individual releases that are of interest to you.
While we can please console fans with the most anticipated games in 2018.
For PS4, these are God of War, Spider-Man, and Detroit: Become Human, and for Xbox, Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3, and State of Decay 2.
In the gaming library, the Sony PlayStation4 Pro wins.
Support for additional and old content

Much of the choice depends on your existing library of games. For example, for an Xbox 360 fan, the Xbox X will be the best gift, because Microsoft has taken a step forward due to the fact that on the One X model you can play not only games for One, but also games for Xbox 360: Black, BloodRayne, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. In addition, a number of games created for the Xbox 2001 will also be launched.
All this does not require any additional effort.
Sony has a similar opportunity, but now it will cost about $15 per copy. Of course, games will be adapted for 1080 and equipped with support for modern features (share play and remote play).
PS3 games also run on PS4, but from the cloud for $100 a year. In comparison, the Xbox is much more loyal in this regard, allowing you to download games for $10 a month, plus provides exclusive access to the ever-growing library of EA Games – EA Access for only $30 a year.
However, many games, even exclusive ones, are released simultaneously for Xbox and PC.
Although the PS4 won in the size of the game library, the Xbox is definitely ahead in the additional content.
Other factors
In most key settings, both consoles try to keep pace. Both support the ability to stream games, both allow you to watch movies and series from streaming services, and both can be used to play music through Spotify.
For about the same price, you can connect Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus, which will allow you to play any game in multiplayer mode and offer a number of other benefits.
For example, when purchasing PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold, the player receives two free games per console per month, and these can be both indie games and hits from franchises. And there, and there you will receive a cloud, discounts and much more.
What to choose?
Updates for both consoles appeared quite recently, and so far there has been no confirmation of the release of new products. Ultimately, if you are choosing a gift for a seasoned player, be sure to consider their gaming preferences and requirements. On average, both consoles offer the same number of benefits, so the choice will have to be made based solely on what is more important to you – either better graphics performance or wider game support. Do not forget that new releases are constantly appearing and many games are available on several platforms at once. Be sure to pay attention to the resolution support and of course, the VR capabilities. Well, if you still can’t make a choice, then the best gift is a gift card from the Fotosklad.ru store – let the player choose what he likes.
Well, we congratulate all men on the upcoming February 23! Enjoy the games and always stay in a great mood!
