Who can get dental implants — advice from a dentist

[ad_1]

A lost tooth causes not only aesthetic problems, but also negatively affects the structure of the oral cavity. What is fraught with the absence of dental implants, and is it safe to put them, said dentist Irina Rubleva in an interview with 5‑tv.ru.

Is it dangerous to put dental implants

According to the dentist, dental implantation is an absolutely safe procedure, which today is compared with the setting of a filling or crown. The main feature is to place the implant on time before it is too late.

If you have lost a tooth, then there is a one-stage implantation. And if there was inflammation of the bone tissue, then the patient needs to wait between treatments. At the latest — place the implant in six months”, Irina Rubleva warned.

What will happen to the jaw without a dental implant

The specialist believes that otherwise the adjacent teeth will gradually move. Then the patient may experience a deformity of the bite, the side of chewing will be disturbed. This contributes to muscular and facial asymmetries.

Changes occur in the dentoalveolar system without a tooth, says the doctor. With the change of chewing side, facial asymmetry will appear. It’s like if you swing only your right or left hand in the gym.

How to place an implant

Since implants have been carried out for more than 50 years, dentists can evaluate the effectiveness of this procedure. Patients who decide on implants “wear” these structures for decades.

The dentist warns: the most important thing is to choose a good, competent specialist who will competently carry out all stages of the operation. Then the implant will serve you for decades.

What are implants

According to their purpose, implants can be divided into two groups:

  • intraosseous (installed in bone tissue, almost do not cause complications);
  • extraosseous (installed in the gum or periosteum, more often used for temporary fixation).

Extraosseous are divided depending on the place where the dentist installs the implants. Their functions are also different.

For example, intramucosal structures are installed in the recesses of the gums. They are chosen for defects in the palate. Stabilization implants are fixed on a living root and are used to strengthen a living tooth. And subperiosteal implants are fixed in the periosteum.

Intraosseous implants are also divided according to the type of fixation in the bone. It can be:

  • root (most often used in dentistry, but their installation requires a sufficient amount of bone tissue that can be increased);
  • basal (installed in a solid basal bone for fixation, in this case, the implant does not need bone tissue for installation);
  • zygomatic (fixed in the zygomatic bone of the upper jaw, which is not subject to atrophy).

Experts note that some implants have contraindications, so the type of structure to be installed is primarily determined by the dentist.

Contraindications for implant placement

Specialists identify several diseases in which the installation of implants is impossible. It:

  • autoimmune diseases;
  • bruxism;
  • diabetes mellitus in the decompensated stage;
  • osteoporosis;
  • impaired tissue repair;
  • malignant neoplasms;
  • chronic renal or hepatic insufficiency;
  • blood clotting disorders;
  • tuberculosis;
  • allergic reactions.

With these diseases, it is impossible to carry out the procedure under any circumstances. There are also relative contraindications — after their elimination, a person can go to the dentist for implants. These include:

  • malocclusion;
  • inflammatory processes in the oral cavity;
  • caries;
  • periodontitis;
  • poor oral hygiene;
  • tartar;
  • pregnancy;
  • viral infections;
  • depletion of the body.

In this case, it is necessary to treat relative contraindications and then contact the dentist for the installation of additional structures.
