How to wash a bag

How to wash a bag

A women’s bag is a capricious product in terms of washing. It does not tolerate washing in a typewriter, and quickly deteriorates from aggressive cleaning products. This is especially true for leather bags: their gloss and attractiveness largely depend on care.

We have prepared recommendations, following which you will keep your bag in good condition for a long time.

General recommendations for bag washing

Suitable detergent — for washing woolen, silk products. Such products remove dirt and stains from the surface of the bag. Gels are also suitable. If you use ordinary dry powders, they can cause wrinkles on the bag.

In case of light dirt and dust, it is enough to clean the bag with a damp cloth, and then apply a regular hand cream to the product.

If you had to carry out a wet wash — manually or in a typewriter — then you need to dry the bag in an upright position. Place it on a towel and keep it away from heaters.

Bag washing methods

First of all, remove all items from the bag — keys, phone, wallets, bank cards. Check the outer and inner pockets.

If any metal elements of the bag come unfastened, unfasten them.

Hand wash bags

This is the best option, since leather goods and leatherette bags do not tolerate washing in a typewriter. In addition, a number of manufacturers directly point out the prohibition to wash bags automatically, especially if the accessory has decorative metal inserts.

Before washing, we recommend soaking the bag in cold water with gel for 1 hour. After that, wash the product with your hands.

Prepare a soap solution, soak a napkin or cotton pad in it and swipe it over the surface of the bag. The napkin or disk must be thoroughly wrung out before use so as not to moisten the bag too much. After that, rub the surface of the product with castor oil.

In order not to wash the bag once again, from time to time wipe it inside and out with a sponge moistened with soapy water. Do not press too hard on the material.

Washing the bag in the machine

We do not recommend machine washing bags. Rinse in the drum runs the risk of cracks and holes in the product, to its deformation. If you decide on such a wash, then select the delicate or manual mode. Disable automatic spin.

Other restrictions:

  1. washing cycle duration — up to 30 minutes;

  2. the maximum water temperature is 30°C.

Place the product in a pillowcase or laundry bag, then put it in the drum. We recommend adding 1–2 more things in addition to create a counterweight.

Features of washing bags made of different materials

Caring for the bag depends on the material of the bag. For example, if the skin is wrinkled, then such a product is more wear-resistant. Tight skin requires delicate care, and if the bag is light, then it will have to be cleaned more often.

See the label on the label for more information from the manufacturer.

Suede bag

Wash the bag in soapy water, and wipe heavily soiled areas with a school eraser. You can also use a suede cleaner, which is designed to remove stubborn stains. To improve the structure of the fibers and restore the brightness of the color, use a cleaning foam. It will provide a delicate cleaning of the pile of suede.

To remove dust, just wipe the product with a suede brush or flannel cloth. If oil stains appear on the bag, wipe them with gasoline or sprinkle talcum powder on top. After the product has dried, wipe it with a brush.

Do not wash or wash a suede bag under water. It is impossible to squeeze and unscrew the product.

Leather bag

It is better not to wash such products. But if the bag is very dirty, add 2–3 drops of ammonia to the soap solution and wipe the thing with it. Next, wipe the bag with castor oil or glycerin — this will preserve the quality of the leather. The last step is to wipe the bag with a soft cloth.

Genuine leather bags are recommended to be moistened regularly. Use glycerin, oils or creams 3–4 times a year. It is enough to wipe the bags made of artificial leather from time to time. If the stain is difficult to remove, then it should be painted over with liquid leather, which is sold in shoe stores.

Reptile skin bag

Such products must not be wetted. It is enough to wipe the surface of the bag with a damp cloth. To remove dirt under the scales, use a sable brush or other soft brush. Move it in the direction of scale growth. To keep them from coming off, do not pick them up.

When dust and dirt are removed, use a conditioner and polish formulated for reptile skin.

In no case do not dry such products near radiators or under the sun — otherwise the bag will quickly become covered with cracks.

Eco leather bag

These bags can be washed on a delicate cycle at temperatures up to 30°C. Select a program with water drain and carefully wring out the garment by hand. You can also wash the bag by hand. It is important that there is no increased friction.

Eco-leather does not burn out in the sun, but you should not keep it under direct sunlight — otherwise the product will deform. Turn the bag inside out to dry the cotton base quickly.

When cleaning bags made of eco-leather, brushes (even with soft bristles), bleaches, stain removers, chlorine-containing detergents and products with abrasive particles cannot be used.

Sports bag

Such products are unpretentious in care and well tolerate automatic washing. Suitable modes — hand wash up to 45 minutes, up to 30 ° C and 400 revolutions.

  1. To clean a light-colored bag, treat it with whipped milk with protein. This will quickly get rid of greasy stains on the product;

  2. Brew coffee and thicken stains. This method is suitable for bags made of dark materials. After treatment, remove the remnants of the product using a slightly dampened sponge;

  3. Dissolve 1 drop of ammonia in a glass of water. Treat stains with solution. This method will restore the original appearance of the product.

When hand washing a bag, we recommend using gloves, especially if you clean the product using ammonia.
