The apotheosis is the recently introduced device from Energizer, which looks more like a powerbank with a smartphone built into it. Fortunately, there is also a small group of gadgets that combine good autonomy and attractive appearance. With one of them, called Turbo X Dream 4G, we will meet today.

For starters, a little history. The hero of our today’s review is a kind of reboot of a good 2014 model, which was simply called the Turbo X Dream, without 4G. 5 years have not been in vain, the 2019 model has added a little thickness and acquired a whole range of popular features, including a fingerprint sensor, a dual camera (both main and front), and support for 4G networks.

Appearance and screen

The appearance of the device is pretty, but the design is not deprived of practicality: the case is matte, so it is not inclined to accidentally scratch. The thickness of the edges is optimal for a comfortable grip, it is convenient to keep the phone close to the ear for a long time when talking (and in the subway when reading / surfing the web, of course).

Turbo X Dream 4G is equipped with a display in 5.45 inches on IPS-matrix. Such a diagonal, combined with small side frames, allows you to fit a solid-sized picture on the screen without turning the gadget into a “shovel”. The aspect ratio is classic, 16:9 (resolution 1440×720). The manufacturer did not experiment, like some brands that produce displays with aspect ratios of 16:10, 18:9 or even 21:9. Of course, they have their advantages, but they lack the main thing — versatility, when you can work with any content on the screen with equal success, here 16:9 reigns supreme. Contrast indicators and viewing angles do not fail either: the image is not distorted, no matter from what position it is looked at.

Performance

The computational capabilities of the gadget are due to SoC MTK MT6739, it includes 4 cores for a total load of ARM Cortex A53 with a frequency of 1280 MHz, as well as a PowerVR GE8100 graphics adapter with support for hardware video decoding. In addition, the Wi-Fi module is located on the chip itself. The chipset and the Android 8.1 operating system work confidently in conjunction, the performance is at a decent level. So, the device does not “slow down” even when working with presentations of hundreds of slides or when quickly switching between several resource-intensive applications. You can also play, for example, Asphalt. Synthetic tests also characterize the graphics capabilities of the device in the best way, in 3D Mark Ice Storm Unlimited the device scores 4192 points.

Turbo X Dream 4G is equipped with 4 cameras — 2 of them with a resolution of 5 MP and 0.3 MP are responsible for frontal shooting, the remaining two are part of the main module (13 MP and 0.3 MP). The 0.3 megapixel cameras are responsible for the implementation of the popular “portrait” shooting mode, which gives a blurred background to the object being shot. The camera app is user-friendly and has all the options you need, including exposure, shutter, and filters. The pictures are quite high quality — of course, you need normal lighting, there is a flash, but it is more suitable for the role of a flashlight. Perhaps, it can seriously help when shooting only when photographing documents in the dark.

Communications

The gadget is equipped with the most popular network access technologies — Wi-Fi is adjacent to fast 4G. Coverage of fourth generation networks is improving every year, but in extreme cases there is always support for older 3G and 2G. There is also support for Bluetooth 4.2, and a navigation module through GPS and GLONASS satellite networks will help you navigate the terrain.

The battery here is non-removable and has a decent capacity of 4000 mAh. By the eighth version, Android has learned to take care of battery consumption, which is not hindered by the installed chipset, so 2 days without recharging is a typical story for the hero of our today’s review. Sometimes even 2.5 — 3 days, if you don’t get too carried away with games. You can play them continuously for 6 hours, and watch videos on Youtube — as much as 9 hours. Any USB port and a USB-micro-USB cable are suitable for charging, with a 2A charger, the process of charging the battery will take about an hour and a half.

In general, we can say for sure that a long battery life is not the only trump card of the Turbo X Dream 4G. It is pleasant to hold it in your hands, it has most of the modern “chips”, and all of them work without the slightest complaint. The model is suitable for anyone who cares about a modern phone that is always with you and will never let you down.
