How to remove ink from paper without a trace

Most often, correctors are provided to remove ink from paper — a white matte liquid that covers errors, typos, unnecessary entries. Every person who works with reports, journals and other important company documents should have a proofreader in sufficient quantity.

But in some cases, it is forbidden to use a proofreader — this applies, for example, to work books of subordinates. Erroneous entries may be corrected in accordance with the rules established by law.

But in the case of other documents, it often becomes necessary to remove annoying blots or ink stains. We have prepared several ways to remove unwanted notes from the surface of the paper without a trace.

Ways to remove ink from white paper

There are several ways to remove ink — the necessary ingredients for this can be found in every home.

Remember that fresh stains are much easier to remove than dried ones, so it is recommended to remove the ink mark immediately.

Baking soda

Quite old, but nevertheless effective method. Dilute 1 tsp. in water until the mixture has the consistency of a paste. Take a cotton swab, apply the mixture on the tip, then apply it to the spot.

Next, wait until the paste is completely dry and brush off any remaining powder.

Lemon juice

Freshly squeezed lemon juice or citric acid powder slightly diluted with water is optimal.

Procedure:

  1. Take a syringe and draw out some juice from half a lemon.
  2. Gently soak the blot so that the stain is completely saturated with juice.

If the paper is very thin, then this method is not recommended. Otherwise, there is a risk of corroding paper fiber under the influence of acid.

Salt

This method involves the use of table salt, soda and lemon juice. Thanks to the acid, the ink dissolves, and the mixture of salt and soda absorbs it quickly. As a result, there will be no stains and ink stains on the sheet of paper.

Procedure:

  1. Stir in 0.5 tsp. salt and soda, apply the mixture to the ink.
  2. Press the mixture down with a book or other flat object.
  3. After 15 minutes, carefully moisten the powder with lemon juice — for example, drop it on the right place from a syringe.

Vinegar

Standard table vinegar dissolves ink marks. The only thing is to follow safety precautions and do not allow vinegar to get on the mucous membranes or the surface of the skin.

To remove the ink, it is enough to moisten a cotton swab in vinegar and moisten the place of contamination. After 10 minutes, soak a cotton pad in dishwashing detergent (it should not contain any dyes), then gently apply it to the stain.

Another option is to heat the vinegar to 50°C, apply it to the stain, and then wipe it with a cotton pad slightly dampened with water. Then it is enough to blot the remnants of the product with a dry cloth or napkin.

Potassium permanganate

The method effectively eliminates traces from a gel pen, as well as from blue, green, red pens. It will not be possible to remove black blots with it.

Procedure:

  1. Combine a little potassium permanganate (at the end of a knife) with 1 tsp. vinegar essence.
  2. Once the crystals are completely dissolved, take a cotton swab, soak it in the solution and gently apply to the desired location.
  3. Soak a cotton ball in hydrogen peroxide and remove the brown spot from the surface of the paper.

The sheet may need to be ironed.

Acetone

Acetone is able to eliminate the paste from a ballpoint pen. Even nail polish remover will do. Moreover, when removing the blue paste, the method shows itself more efficiently than when removing the black one.

Procedure:

  1. Soak a cotton swab in acetone and apply a little to the ink. If the stain is large, drop a pipette on it, and if it is very small, then use a toothpick.
  2. Wipe off any remaining moisture with a dry cloth or paper towel.
  1. Medical alcohol

In addition to alcohol, you will also need an iron.

Procedure:

  1. Take a cotton swab and soak it in alcohol.
  2. Apply alcohol to the ink marks.
  3. Wait until the paper is completely dry.
  4. Iron the sheet by placing a new sheet of clean paper on its surface.

White

This method will take about half an hour. You can only use bleach on white paper, as this product is known for its bleaching properties.

Procedure:

  1. Take a cotton swab and soak it in whiteness.
  2. Apply product to the ink mark.
  3. Wait until the paste becomes a dry white powder and discard it.
  4. Lightly moisten the cleaned area with a moistened cotton swab.

To do this, you must perform the following steps:

  1. Mix glycerin and medical alcohol in a ratio of 1: 1 in 1 tbsp. l.
  2. Gently apply the mixture to the stain using a syringe or ink.
  3. After the stain disappears, blot the desired area with a damp cloth.

After drying a sheet of paper, it may be necessary to iron the sheet with an iron.

If the ink gets on the glossy paper, use an alcohol-based liquid. The main thing is that it does not contain aggressive dyes and flavors. The procedure is simple: just slightly moisten a cotton pad with alcohol, squeeze it well and wipe the ink with the edge.

If the mark from the pen on the glossy surface has already dried, use a school eraser.

Other solutions to the problem

The most accurate and delicate ways to remove ink from the surface of the paper were discussed above. However, there are other methods that are still popular today.

So, some try to wipe the ink off the paper with a razor blade. But in this case, there is a risk of injury and cut the sheet of paper.

Procedure:

  1. Lightly scratch the ink mark with a blade. It should be sharp and be perpendicular to the surface of the sheet.
  2. Blow off the fluff on the paper.
  3. Place the blade parallel to the sheet and sand its surface.
  4. Carefully level the surface of the sheet with your fingernail.

You can use fine-grained sandpaper — in this case, not only the ink will be removed, but the entire top layer of paper. It is necessary to cut off a small piece of sandpaper and gently wipe the sheet. Next, blow off the dust from the paper and small particles of sandpaper, and then level the surface of the paper with your fingernail.

You can try to erase the ink stains with a school eraser, but in this case there is a risk of smearing the stain even more and tearing the paper. If the eraser doesn’t work, try dampening the paper a bit and try this method again.
