How to wash eco-leather

Eco-leather is a material with a cotton base, on which polyurethane is applied. It is a waterproof coating that does not allow moisture to pass through and does not collect dirt. The material is wear-resistant, breathable and hypoallergenic, has a warm and pleasant to the touch surface. Not only clothes are made from it, but also covers, bags.

Eco-leather is easy to care for: it is enough to wash off contaminated stains from time to time with clean water or a damp cloth. But hand and machine washing require compliance with a number of rules. We have prepared recommendations on how to wash eco-leather in an automatic machine and manually in order to preserve the original look of the product for a long time.

Washing Features

Before washing, study what is printed on the product label. The manufacturer indicates the appropriate type of washing (manual, automatic), temperature, type of detergent, spin power, if applicable, as well as the possibility of bleaching.

In the absence of a label, you need to find out how the product reacts to water. Wet the product in an inconspicuous place with water and check the result after 30 minutes. If folds and wrinkles do not appear on the material during this time, then the thing can be washed.

General recommendations: water temperature — up to 30 ° C, the number of revolutions — as low as possible, it is better to turn off the spin cycle to avoid deformation. At the same time, hand washing is the best option for such products.

Handwash

It is impossible to pull and rub the thing strongly, otherwise there is a risk of its irreversible damage. If you use too hot water, the clothes will discolor, deform. For the first wash, it is better to use cold water — thus you will avoid washing out the paint.

Procedure:

  1. Fill the basin with warm water, add detergent and place the item in it;
  2. Rinse the lining by hand;
  3. Carefully clean the leatherette with a sponge;
  4. Rinse clothing thoroughly several times to remove powder;
  5. Carefully roll up the garment and wrap it in a towel to absorb water;
  6. Hang the product on a hanger.

Attention! Soaking before washing for eco-leather products is unacceptable.

If there are stains on the clothes, remove them before washing. When the contamination has appeared recently, moisten the washcloth with water and gently wipe it. If the stain is greasy, then add a little detergent to the washcloth. And long-standing dirt is washed off as follows: place a rag soaked in water on them, wait 5-10 minutes and wipe off the dirt with a sponge.

Machine wash

How to wash eco-leather

If there is no prohibition on machine washing on the label, then the procedure will be as follows:

  1. Make sure that there are no keys, small things, etc. in the pockets of the clothes, fasten the buttons, turn it inside out;
  2. Set the appropriate parameters: mode — «Delicate», temperature — 30 ° C, the number of revolutions for spinning — 400;
  3. Add the chlorine-free gel to the appropriate compartment;
  4. Wrap the washed item in a towel, then hang it to dry.

Attention! Standard washing powder for eco-leather products is not suitable. Otherwise, its granules will scratch the material, and also lead to the appearance of ugly white stains.

Features of washing different products

Eco-leather dresses are clothes that come into contact with human skin. Such clothes have a lining that absorbs sweat, sebum and other body secretions. Even if the outside of the dress remains clean, the product needs regular gentle washing. Some eco-leather models have inserts combined with fabric. Such products also need to be washed regularly.

Eco-leather jacket should not be washed frequently. It is enough to wipe fresh contaminated stains so that they do not have time to dry and eat into the fabric. A standard soap solution will do: dilute soap or shampoo in water, soak a sponge in the solution and wipe the contaminated areas. After that, you need to wipe the jacket with a dry cloth. Usually pockets, elbows, jacket hem, cuffs need cleaning.

As for the machine wash of the jacket, the product must be placed in a special bag. As a result, the risk of deformation and damage to the product is reduced. The temperature should be no more than 30 ° C, the spin should be minimal (or it is better to turn it off altogether so as not to deform the material).

If the lining of the down jacket is covered with a greasy coating, Vanish Carpet Cleaner is suitable:

  1. Turn the down jacket inside out, hang it on a hanger;
  2. Mix a cap of the product in 1 liter of hot water, shake it until foam appears and apply to the lining;
  3. After 15 minutes, rub the material with a soft bristled brush;
  4. Then dry the lining with a dry towel.

If the stroller is made of eco-leather, it is necessary to regularly remove the fabric from it, soak it in soapy water, clean with a sponge, rinse and dry. And if the hood is not removed from the frame, then it is enough to rinse it with a damp cloth and wipe it thoroughly.

Folk remedies for cleaning products

There are several folk remedies that will help you quickly deal with pollution on eco-leather.

  1. Lightly moisten the sponge with water, pour soda on it and wipe the contaminated areas for 4-5 minutes. Take a dry cloth and wipe off the baking soda residue. After that, wipe the material with lemon juice to get rid of streaks;
  2. To eliminate glossy stains, soak a cotton pad in an alcohol solution and clean the contaminated areas;
  3. Prepare a soap solution and add glycerin to it. Soak a soft cloth in this product and wipe the contaminated areas with it;
  4. Moisten a cotton pad with a product formulated for wool or silk, and use it to treat soiled areas. After that, remove the remnants of the product with paper napkins;
  5. If traces of oil paint appear on clothes, use turpentine;
  6. To remove stains from drinks (for example, from red wine), soak a sponge in diluted vinegar and apply it to the stained areas.

In severe cases, professional dry cleaning will help restore the product to its original appearance.

How to dry clothes

It is advisable to leave the product to dry in a well-ventilated area or outdoors, but not in direct sunlight. If the thing is in the room, then it should be away from heaters, gas stoves, etc.

Turn clothes inside out, open windows to allow fresh air to circulate — this way the item will be dried quickly and neatly. Spread the product from time to time so that it does not stick together and does not deform.
