Preparatory actions

Before cleaning your sneakers, do the following:

  1. Use a microfiber cloth, sponge or dry brush to remove dirt. It is advisable to do this after each walk so that the sneakers stay clean for a long time.
  2. Take out the insoles and laces. They should be washed separately using laundry soap, bleach or a special stain remover.

When cleaning sneakers, do not use products that are designed specifically for plumbing. Such products really whiten, but they have a sharp unpleasant odor, and their chlorine-based composition is quite aggressive. Using such cleaning products, you increase the risk of hopelessly ruining your sneakers.

Can you machine wash sneakers?

This is not always allowed. So, leather and suede sneakers are washed exclusively by hand, so as not to spoil the shoes.

Before washing in the machine, sneakers must first be knocked out. If the shoes are too dirty, dust can clog the holes in the drum.

A suitable mode for washing sneakers is «Delicate». In this case, the machine spins more slowly, which reduces the risk of defects (such as abrasion). The temperature must be as low as possible.

Together with sneakers, it is worth placing unnecessary towels and other tight clothes in the drum. However, additional products that will prevent the deformation of shoes can become dirty, so you should not fill the machine with light-colored things.

Pour exactly as much powder into the compartment as recommended by the manufacturer. If you add too much product, the machine will not be able to rinse clean sneakers, which will stiffen the shoes and lead to unsightly stains. Any detergent is suitable for washing — powder, gel, granules, etc.

How to clean white suede sneakers by hand

If your suede sneakers are exposed to rain and mud, the first step is to let them dry completely. Inside the shoes should be stuffed with newspaper sheets or paper towels.

Then you need to lift the pile and clean the dirty places using a special brush for suede care. You can get rid of stains with a stationery eraser. Next, apply a cleansing foam to the surface of the suede and leave it for a few minutes.

The final step is to treat the pair with a soapy solution with the addition of ammonia.

Cleaning suede sneakers should be done carefully. You can not wet sneakers through, otherwise the shoes may be deformed.
